Saree-Cisco San Franscico

You may recall my friend Gaurav, the one I met in a Cambodian night club, where we both discovered we were from Texas and later became friends in New York City. Well he got married in San Franscico!

Got to spend the trip with new and old friends. Best part of this short long-weekend was that I got to wear an indian saree! I didn’t exactly know how to wrap the long fabric around me, some an older Indian grandmother helped me.

The wedding was held in city hall, and it must have been the most glorious one of these things I’ve seen. There we at least 3-4 outfit changes, and spread out over the course of 3 days. Most people can barely afford one wedding, let alone three!

Needless to say it was a beautiful ceremony and I learned a lot about the indian culture. Enjoyed watching the groom ride in on a horse and the bridal party gave a belly dance performance over henna tattoos. When we weren’t at the wedding stuff we got to explore the city a bit. Walked on foot from the Tenderloin all the way across the Golden Gate bridge. Spent a day in Tiburon and Sausalito…all very unique.

AND GOT TO HUG MY RED WOOD TREE 🙂
